I have been working on a set of new pieces for a commission with the
Kentucky Governor's School for the Arts Music Faculty.  They have an
interesting instrumentation that made that the project appealing.  It
should get a performance sometime in June.
Another project that's in the works is a score for a film a former school
mate is shooting.
Aaron Stahlecker is the man in charge and asked
me if I was interested in doing some cues.  It sounds like it should be
fun.

My piece Soli Deo Gloria, commissioned by guitarist Alexej Muran, will
receive its premiere on Monday, October 2 at GlenOaks Hospital in
Glendale Heights, IL.  Alexej will be performing the piece for some
event.  I don't even know what.  I wish I could be there, but alas I can
not.
Duette Due, also known as Two Duets for Violin and Guitar may get a
second performance on December 9 at the Crafton Hills College in
Yucaipa, California.  The
Crafton Hills Composers Collective, a group I
bumped into on Myspace,  offered to give it another performance.
They are going to have a guitarist and violinist already for other
pieces and will try to have it performed time permitting.  So that makes
me happy.

Well, got the choir and guitar piece done and out in time.  We'll see
what becomes of that.  I am concentrating on cleaning up scores from
the last two years at the moment.  That and making a mock-up mp3 of
my orchestral piece/masters thesis.

Duo 46, a classical guitar and violin duo, along with the American
Composers' Forum are sponsoring a composer workshop and reading
session at Hamline University in Saint Paul, MN. They chose a piece I
submitted called
Duet for Guitar and Violin (I stayed up all night trying
to come up with a name) and it's going to be recorded. The workshop
is happening in Sundin Hall, on the campus of Hamline University.
Should be fun.  I don't know if it's open to the public, but the workshop
goes from 7:30 till 10:00.  If you happen to be in the area and are
interested, come by and check it out.
I am also still working on the guitar and choir piece.  Yeah, I have 4
days to make the postmark deadline.  I think it's pretty much done and
actually sounds cool.

Just finished my solo classical guitar piece.  Now I am working on a
piece for guitar and choir to enter in a composition competition.  The
competition has a Christmas carol theme and is due by September 1.
Let's see if I can pull it off.  I am using some Renaissance English
poetry for my text.  Two good reasons why:  It seems well suited for
the project and, more importantly, it's public domain.

Myspace has been an interesting little find.  I have been able to
connect with a number of 'new music' performers and ensembles
across the globe with some very promising collaborative opportunities.
We'll see what becomes of it all.
